Massachusetts Open Critique Groups
SCBWI Critique Groups are held, usually on a monthly basis, in communities throughout each region. Some groups meet in libraries; others, in homes. Each group is unique, shaped by the talents of the Critique Group Representative and the participants. An online list of SCBWI Critique Groups is updated frequently, and the New England Critique Groups Coordinator is available to help and advise prospective representatives on adding new critique groups to our network.

MA - Amherst-Jones Library Group
Ongoing group which originally met at the Hatfield Library. They meet the last Tuesday of the month from 7-930pm. Open to all writers and illustrators at every level of experience.
MA - Andover
The group meets the second or third Wednesday of the month from 7-9 PM at The Memorial Hall Library Activity Room in Andover. Please contact Marianne to confirm meeting date and time, and to receive group guidelines.

MA - GBIG (Greater Boston Illustrator's Group)
GBIG meets monthly at the Weston Public Library. We’re looking for new members!
MA - Hull
SureLines in American History-a face to face specialized writing group with a primary focus on American History. We are a serious-minded group, dedicated to completing our manuscripts! This group meets weekly and has a primary focus in American history. This is the only restriction. Works critiqued may be fiction or non-fiction; and may be written toward any age group.

We are a new group of eager as yet unpublished writers in children’s literature market focusing our writing in the 8-12 and YA age range, supporting each other in improving our writing through regular critique meetings and on line exchange and bringing our work to publication.

Established writing critique group is looking for 2-3 additional members in the Newburyport, Ma and Portsmouth, NH area. We are looking for serious, committed writers who are beyond the beginner stage. Members need to be oriented towards working through multiple drafts and able to give thorough critiques as well as to accept thorough critiques. We meet once a month.

MA - Pioneer Valley Critique Group
A new critique group for MG and YA writers is starting in the Pioneer Valley!
The goal of this group is to create a small and trusted network of peers to critique work on a regular basis. The group will be small, 4-6 members, and limited to writers with at least one completed manuscripts for which they are pursuing publication or are previously published. The group meets the first Thursday of every month from 6-8pm at the Lakeville Library. New members who are actively dedicated to improving their craft and becoming published are welcome, email Michelle for more information.

Meets the 4th Wednesday of the month.
MA - Westport
The group meets every third Friday at the Westport Library. The meeting starts at 10:00 and goes until noon. The group has six active members and always welcomes new writers.
