Critique group forming in Danielson CT for children’s writers in any genre serious about getting published. Meetings will be held on Saturdays once or twice per month. Members must have experience critiquing or submitting their work, and must have new material for most meetings. Once Upon a Shoreline Writer’s Group welcomes all and orally critiques any material (manuscript or portfolio) aimed at the children’s market. We draw from an area stretching from New Haven, CT east through Lyme and inland to Middletown and, in seventeen years, our members have popped champagne corks 101 times for new contracts signed. The group currently meets at Guilford Community Center on the first Wednesday of every month from 7:00-10:00pm.

The Manchester Children’s Writers Critique Group welcomes authors writing for children in any type of genre with the goal of publication. We meet on the second Thursday of the month from 6:30-9:00pm. The Writers of Lower Fairfield announce the formation of a second group, the Picture Book Writers of Lower Fairfield. This group will meet monthly in New Canaan, CT. The group is currently open. New group for writers and illustrators forming! Plans to meet once a month on Sunday afternoon.

The Western Connecticut Picture Book Group draws from a 25-mile radius of New Milford, CT, including Danbury, Litchfield, Newtown and points beyond. We meet monthly in New Milford. This group’s focus is on the creation of picture books and illustrated early readers, and is open to illustrators and illustrator/authors. If you are interested in joining, please send an email with “Critique Group” in the subject line. Tell us something about yourself, include any titles you may have illustrated and a link to where your work may be viewed. Indicate whether or not you’re an SCBWI member.

The Walden Writers Group has an opening. Writers meet once a month on a Saturday morning at the Concord Library. All levels welcome. Please send a short summary of your writing interests and background to Reine Gagliostro at the above email address.

The Hatfield workshop meets at the Jones Library in Amherst the last Tuesday of the month from 7-9:30pm.

SureLines in American History-a face to face specialized writing group with a primary focus on American History. We are a serious-minded group, dedicated to completing our manuscripts! This group meets weekly and has a primary focus in American history. This is the only restriction. Works critiqued may be fiction or non-fiction; and may be written toward any age group.

Open to all levels of children’s writing. Anyone interested in an encouraging and supportive environment, please feel free to join us. We will meet every other Wednesday at the Morse Institute in Natick from 7:30-9:00pm.

Our group spans many genres, including picture books, poetry for various ages and middle grade fiction and non-fiction.

Please join our YA/MG fantasy critique group! All genres are welcome, but we do concentrate on fantasy and require that you be willing to read and critique fantasy novels. Our meetings are at T-accessible locations only. Email for more information.

The group meets every third Friday at the Westport Library. The library opens at 10:30 a.m. The meeting starts at 10:30 and goes until noon. The group has six active members and always welcomes new writers.

Green Mountain Critiquers meets the third Tuesday of the month from 6-8 pm at the Brandon Free Library in Brandon, Vermont. The library is located just off Route 7 which is Main Street in Brandon. We share how-to info, news of courses, conferences, do writing exercises, and give supportive yet constructive critiques. We’re both fun and serious about getting published.
