Short Bio: Robin Brickman's illustrations specialize in natural science. In the mid 1990's she created a unique method of illustrating children's books by painting, cutting, and hand sculpting 3-Dimensional art. Her books and paintings have won many awards, including a New York Sate Museum Purchase Prize, Outstanding Science Trade Book, National Science Teachers Association, Children's Book Council, John Burroughs List of Nature Books, and Reading Rainbow.
Selected Works: Wings, One Night In the Coral Sea, A Log's Life, Beaks!, I Am An Artist, Starfish, and Swallows In the Birdhouse.

Program Info

Program Descriptions: Robin Brickman's workshops build upon the natural science and the artistry in the books she has illustrated. The COMMUNITY MURAL program combines art and science in a hands-on class. In this workshop Robin explains how she researches and constructs the paintings for her books. Then, each student creates their own art for a mural. Other programs are: WEARABLE ART, I AM AN ARTIST, AND MAKING A PICTUREBOOK.

Program Pricing: $950 - $1,500 plus expenses
Special Features: Robin plans each visit individually according to the students involved and the budget available. Workshops for teachers, at libraries, and museums are also available. Supplies are simple materials such as copier paper, scissors, crayons, and colored pencils.
