Short Bio: RICHARD MICHELSON’s many children’s books have received a New Yorker Best Book Award,a Children’s Book Committee Book of the Year, and a Skipping Stones Magazine Multicultural Honor Award. Across the Alley, was a finalist for the 2006 National Jewish Book Award,Tuttle's Red Barn was a Publisher’s Weekly Best Book of 2007, As Good As Anybody: Martin Luther King and Abraham Joshua’s Heschel’s Amazing March Toward Freedom was listed by Booklist (the American Library Association) as one of the Ten Best Biographies for Youth 2008.
In January 2009, "As Good As Anybody: Martin Luther King and Abraham Joshua Heschel's Amazing March Toward Freedom," was awarded the prestigious Sydney Taylor Award Gold Medal from the Association of Jewish Libraries, and “A is for Abraham,” was awarded the Silver Medal. This is the first time in the award's 41-year history that one author has been honored with their top two awards.

Michelson has written reviews and essays the New York Times Book Review, Publishers Weekly, Nextbook, and other publications. He is the Curator of Exhibitions at The National Yiddish Book Center and the owner of R. Michelson Galleries (www.RMichelson.com) in Northampton, Massachusetts, where he represents many of America’s best-loved illustrators.

Program Pricing: $1200.00 day plus expenses. Use me as much as possible.
Special Features: Besides talking about my own writing, both poetry and prose, for adults and for children, non-fiction and fiction, I can also, as owner of R. Michelson Galleries, where I represent many of the country's most important book illustrators, speak about illustration, and I often bring a range of original artwork to my presentations.
