Book Illustration Workshop with Lauren Mills: June 4-8, 2007
Lauren Mills will be teaching a book illustration workshop June 4 - 8 at the Lyme Academy of Fine Arts, Old Lyme Connecticut.
Instructor: Lauren Mills, illustrator of books for over 20 years, winner of the Golden Kite for Fairy Wings and Charlotte Award for The Rag Coat.
This is an intensive course concentration on the technical and artistic aspects of book illustration which will include creating a finished book dummy and painting to present to publishers. Students will work on conceptualizing, story-boarding, sequential thinking, character design, value studies and a painting. Lectures will cover the book market and the history of book illustration augmented by slides, books, and example of book dummies, sketches and original artwork for books. Watercolor and drawing techniques will be demonstrated.
